The lavender fields are beginning to show a purple haze. As summer arrives, our lavender plants are getting ready to flower. By the middle of July, the lavender will be a peak bloom. Come join us July 11-13 and 18-20 for two big weekends of celebrating lavender. Stroll our lavender field and pick your own bunch of lavender or choose from bunches in our Farmstand.
While browsing in the Farmstand you can check out our lavender soaps, mists, essential oils, culinary buds, and discover more ways to use and enjoy lavender. And we grow other Botanicals. You will find our ever-favorite Rosemary-Peppermint foaming soap, mists of Rose Geranium, Lemon Balm, and more, plus our signature Velvet Monkey tea, a delightful blend of our lavender with Chinese black tea.
You will find lots to do during your visit. Be sure to visit our website for a calendar and prices. Walk the lavender field with the farmer to learn about choosing, growing, harvesting, and pruning lavender. Be sure to ask Dr. Maze about the three things to know about successfully growing lavender. Learn how to distill lavender essential oil and hydrosol as Dr. Maze carries out a demonstration. Sit back and enjoy the wafting aroma.
Lavender can be a delightful addition to many dishes, but it can be challenging to use. Learn about cooking with lavender as Carol and Teresa demonstrate Dutch Oven Cooking with Lavender. And don’t forget to take home some of our culinary lavender for your own experiments.
You can try your hand at a challenging lavender craft, or try one of our simple crafts in the Farmyard. Our Farmyard experience includes mazes, farm animals, the Spider Web Climber, the Music Garden, the Singing Chicken Show, the Lavender Labyrinth with our new Spiral Herb Garden, and more. This year we have added a Farm Crossword Hunt game to the Farmyard. Farm Tot Fridays is back on July 11! This beloved program is our farm adventure for Tots with accompanying adults. Farm Tot Friday is included in the Farmyard admission. Farm Tot Fridays and Bubble Friday, our other Friday special event will continue on Fridays through the end of our farm season. The lavender experience has spread beyond Dr. Maze’s Farm to the whole Sammamish Valley!
On the first weekend, Friday to Sunday, July 11-13, 2014 Dr. Maze’s Farm is joining with six other Sammamish Valley farms and businesses to welcome you to join our Sammamish Valley Celebrates Lavender and Art.
Each farm is different and presents its own characteristic events and activities. You can hop from one farm to the next or spend your time at just one or two. There is something for everyone. Come one weekend or both and immerse yourself in all things lavender. Lavender is truly something to celebrate!
